Introducing All-Natural Soda Flavors

| Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 |

SodaStream is excited to debut our new series of all-natural syrups, ‘Sparkling Naturals’ to give your homemade fizzy water a refreshing, fruity and natural punch. These syrups are 100 percent free of artificial colorings and sweeteners and do not contain any preservatives or high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

Natural flavors are here!

Made from naturally sourced ingredients, the ‘Sparkling Naturals’ line comes in four delicious flavors:

• Lemon & Lime

• Orange & Pineapple

• Apple & Mango

• Pink Grapefruit

As the debate on the dangers of HFCS heats up (you may have read about the controversy created by the Corn Refiners Association’s petition to the FDA asking to change the name to “corn sugar”), it’s more important than ever for people to be aware of what is going into their drinks.

SodaStream strives to respond to the taste preferences of our loyal fizz fans. Time and again we’ve heard people ask for a Splenda-free alternative to our other flavors – and the all-natural line is a response to that request. A perfect complement to the 30+ syrups already in the company’s line-up, ‘Sparkling Naturals’ allows further control and personalization of carbonated beverages.

Offered at an introductory price of $9.99, each 750ml bottle will make up to six liters of all-natural soda. The first four flavors are available on our online store. More flavors will follow in spring 2011, including classics such as Cola, Root Beer and Ginger Ale.

Let us know what carbonated concoctions you plan on making with the ‘Sparkling Naturals’ in the comments.

“…it’s more important than ever for people to be aware of what is going into their drinks. ”

Agreed…it’s important to know what we consume. So where can we find a list of what ingredients are in these new flavors? All I see is a list of what’s not in them…

    Hi Susan,
You can see exactly what’s in these and all our soda flavors on our website:

  3. Robert says:

So… these make half as much soda and cost twice as much as the Splenda flavors?

  4. says:

    Hi Robert,
Our Sparkling Naturals line gives our fizz fans a choice, one we have heard many people ask for. Some people simply prefer sugar over artificial sweetners. Sugar isn’t as sweet as Splenda so it takes a larger quantity of the sugar based flavor to make soda. And if you look at other gourmet sodas that only use sugar (no high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweetners) I think you’ll see that our prices are pretty competitive.

    Thanks for your comment Robert.

Looking forward to new flavors this spring! Love my SodaStream, but not so much the sucralose. Hope Splenda-free Cherry Cola will be added!!!!

  6. virginia says:

I’d be interested in a tonic syrup. Anything with artificial sweetener just give me stabbing pains in my stomach so any of the regular flavors just aren’t an option. When will the Natural flavors be out? Spring 11 is just about on us and there is no specified date.

  7. Cindy says:

I LOVE my SodaStream! Have had it all of 48 hours so far. But today I was at the doctor….it was the Splenda. I should have known better, but I just HAD to put in that lemon lime sample and drink a big glass of it. BAD reaction to the Splenda (I have always avoided all sugar substitute products because they made me sick……) anyway, I am glad for the new flavors upcoming, and will try these “citrus” ones! And, I have lots of experiments in mind too, for flavoring the amazing carbonated water. So…fantastic machine, great product, that’s all I have to say :-).

  8. Megan says:

I LOVE the Pink Grapefruit and someone mentioned it makes less than the Splenda types…but, I don’t need to put in the recommended amount to enjoy it…so, I think people should remember that it is made to taste. That is what is so lovely about SodaStream :D My husband makes it stronger than I do…so we each have our choice.

Thanks for these lovely new flavors, because I can not have any kind of sweetener such as Splenda and I try to avoid HFCS.

  9. Jon says:

Any plans for splenda free tonic?

  10. Ms. Fizz says:

Hi Jon – thanks for the question. We’re introducing new flavors all the time, especially this year, so please stay tuned! We always appreciate suggestions from our customers. Thanks!

  11. Porcsha says:

Love the Sodastream, the soda helps my constent stomach cramping
caused by my illness. However, I can’t tolerate the SPLENDA.
Could Sodastream consider making all the regular flavors without
Splenda, it tastes nasty like diet. Thanks.

  12. Porcsha says:

One other thing is that soda brands don’t use Splenda
so how does it make your syrups sweeter?

  13. Jon says:

Im glad that sodastream is makeing syrups with no artificial sweetners. However I did try the new natrual rootbeet flavor and it was awful,It was just not right, and yes I filter all my water.I am just going to buy the brand name syrup in bulk that has the HFCS in it,It may be bad for you,But at least it taste good..One suggestion I would like to see.Is that sodastream puts on splenda based syurps that it contains Splenda on the very front label,Its misleading not to post that on the front of your product.

  14. Brandon says:

When I first heard about the Sodastream I was very excited. I drink tons of a well-known zero calorie cola and it’s very expensive. I was all ready to go out and buy a machine until I learned that you use Splenda as your sweetener, as I’m extremely allergic to it. Perhaps you could look into using a Stevia based alternative, as it’s all natural, fine for diabetics and tastes great. I’m anxious to be a customer – it’s your call!

  15. Melinda says:

Just got my new Sodastream, I am a big time fan of sodas and pops. I love the taste of things like Izzies and Jones soda, maybe if those companies could get together with you guys and could try and come up with flavors that aren’t flat or empty chemically in taste. I was hoping for something like this maybe available because I would hate to have this machine and still need to buy cans and bottles. It’s not the water we us, we’ve tested it and tried from filtered from the tap and filtered on the door of our fridge. Very disappointing with the diet orange flavor, we thought we got a deal by buying 6 bottles online. It’s not very good so warning to the people who like orange pop it’s not very good with soda stream diet soda mix.

  16. Mel says:

Do all of your flavors contain sucralose?

  17. Tina says:

I received this machine as a gift for Christmas and love the idea of it. However I agree with Jon and many others. You need to put Contains Sucralose on the front of every product. Your current packaging is misleading to the customer. I felt taken advantage of. I was given large bottles of the lemon lime and country time/ice tea syrup only to find out they both tasted like nasty diet soda. Then I tried your samples to only find out even the non diet syrups had that nasty diet taste. Why?!?! If you don’t offer another option, you’ll continue to deceive costumers which in the end will cause us to find other options. I’m already substituting your syrups with Roses’ Lime and Grenadine used in bars. YUMMY!

  18. Cheryl says:

Flavors that use sugar instead of Splenda cost more and make less? No thanks. I will just buy mine at the grocery store for .25 a can.

  19. Jens says:

Glad to see some Sucralose free flavors. I just recently was given a SodaStream and was very dissapointed to see Sucralose in EVERY flavor. I will NOT buy any flavors with chemically altered sugar (that’s what sucralose is). Please consider Stevia or simply using plain sucrose in future flavors.

  20. Mark says:

Please create flavors WITHOUT Sucralose. It’s toxic and tastes terrible. Please just use sugar, even if it’s a little more. I only drink soda once a week at most, but will never drink another with Sucralose (and threw away the bottle I recently bought). I don’t trust putting lab-created chemicals in my body.

I will buy NO more of your Soda Syrups until you offer chemical free flavors.

It’s amazing to go to see this site and reading the views of all colleagues regarding this post, while I am also zealous of getting familiarity.

  22. Gvee says:

Splenda upsets my stomach big time. I wish I had realized that they used sucralose before purchasing a bunch of sample flavors and bottles of syrups. Total waste. At least I can make my own flavored simple syrups without the disgusting sucralose in it. It is just so disapointing.

I have had my soda streem for two years. I do not drink anything but diet drinks (type 2 diabetic). Occasionally ill break out my sodastree, when i am out of the real diet sodas and extreemly desparate. I find the splenda has a horrible aftertaste that lingers for hours after i have had a glass. Please dump the splinda. I have made homade rootbeer sirups with aspertame and they are so much better than the Sodastreem with splenda version. Though too costly to be worth using my sodastreem more often. It does not even taste good mixed with bourbon wisky or rum on the few occasions i can drink. I have been waiting for 2 years for soda streem to lose splenda.
    Thank you.

I like the idea of the Sodastream, but I am disappointed in the taste. I hate sucralose, aspartame, stevia, acesulfame. Almost all the flavors I’ve seen, and all the ones that came with my unit have other sweeteners; even the ones that say they are natural, and even the ones that contain sugar. Where can I get flavors that don’t come from a chemical plant?

  32. This is the perfect blog for everyone who would like to find out about
this topic. You know so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I personally would want to…HaHa).
You definitely put a brand new spin on a subject that’s been discussed
for decades. Wonderful stuff, just great!

  33. JB Davis says:

I received the Sodastream for my birthday this year, just a couple of weeks ago. It’s cool, it’s fun, it’s got a whole bunch of fake sugar in it. What sort of colas/dr. petes/sprites/mountain dews/etc. can I get that DON’T have sucralose in them. Really, artificial flavors make the drinks taste so “chemically” and cloying, and the health market just plummets when they are involved. My gosh, please take that mess out of the syrups.

Other than that, love the product.

  34. Ashley says:

I love the idea of the soda stream but I will never buy one unless I am have a regular flavour with regular sugar in it. I will not buy something that is only produced with either Splenda or sucralose.
