CO2 (refills) and YouMs. Fizz | Wednesday, January 12th, 2011 |
As I review my SodaStream “social media inbox,” which is how I refer to the various inquiries I receive on Facebook, Twitter and right here on the blog, I’m noticing that a few questions come up repeatedly. Many of your questions concern our CO2 carbonators, specifically how you can get more once your canister is tapped.
You ask. I answer. Fizz fans, I am happy to report that exchanging your SodaStream CO2 carbonator has never been easier!
Stay Local: As you’ve hopefully heard, in 2010 SodaStream home soda makers and accessories became available for purchase at many more retail locations, due in large part to our expansion into Bed Bath and Beyond stores nationwide. And its not just Bed Bath and Beyond. You can also find SodaStream carbonators at national retailers like Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, Sur LaTable and Le Gourmet Chef. There are also a number of local stores and shops that carry carbonators.
Increased retail availability has made it much easier (and cheaper, since there are no minimum shipments, and no shipping charges) to exchange your carbonator. Just bring your empty carbonator to any participating retail location and they’ll exchange it for a full one on the spot, usually for about $15 (for 60L of CO2.) As retail exchange opportunities continue to increase in number, it will continue to get easier and easier.
Find a local retailer near you here.
Fizz From Home: If the idea of braving the crowds, in a busy store on a weekend is too much to bear, don’t forget you can also exchange your carbonator online. Using a little internet magic, I’ll even walk you through the process through SodaStream’s nifty carbonator wizard.
Depending on where you live, you will either leave your empties out for pick-up (by a local courier), OR your order will arrive via UPS, in which case SodaStream will send pre-paid return boxes with the delivery.
Ordering exchange carbonators online requires that you have an equal number of empty carbonators to return to SodaStream. Return shipping for your empty carbonators is FREE as long as you follow the email instructions sent to you when you place your order for exchange carbonators.
Now that you’ve got a handy guide on how to replace your SodaStream CO2 carbonator, sit back and dream up your own fizzy fantasies. Remember, on average, the carbonator will make 60 or 130 liters of seltzer or soda, depending on the size you have (varies depending on the amount of carbonation used when making your drink). A household of four soda drinkers might need to replace a 130-liter carbonator every 3-4 months, and a 60-liter carbonator every 6-8 weeks, depending on usage.
If you have more questions about the CO2 carbonator or any of our other products please feel free to leave them in the comments.
