SUPER Party Planning for the Big Game

| Friday, February 1st, 2013 |

Who’s getting excited for the game this Sunday? Wahoo! Not only am I pumped for some football, but let’s face it: it’s a great excuse to throw a fizz-tastic party! To help kick-off your party planning, here are a couple totally touchdown ideas:

Decorations and fizz-tivities.

I’m not gonna pick sides here, but if you’re partial to one of the teams in the championship, you’ve gotta go nuts showing your team spirit! Of course you can decorate with team colors, but you can also take it to the next level by going with a theme: represent Baltimore The Raven/Poe-style, showcase San Francisco with icons like the Golden Gate or have guests wear flowers in their hair, or get a head-start on Mardi Gras in honor of New Orleans.

A pool is a classic game time activity, but you can fizz it up by throwing in a round or two of commercial bingo: each square gets something generally seen in a game day commercial — a snack chip brand, a smartphone, talking babies, a car brand. (Make sure to leave one space for an appearance of some bubbles!)

Snazzy snacks.

What is a game day gathering without awesome food? YUM. It’s time for a recipe roundup! The best of the best when it comes to wings, dip, and chili. And don’t forget the desserts! Aren’t these football cupcakes super cute?

Fizz-tive drinks.

No party is complete without a glass of something bubbly, and you know game day was made for soda-sipping. So it’s the perfect time to break out the SodaStream!

But if you want to go beyond your standard fizzy sodas, here are a couple cocktail recipe ideas.

Cheers to your favorite team with a signature drink!

Baltimore Blast
SodaStream Kool-Aid® Grape Soda
Frozen Grapes

San Fran-fizz-co
SodaStream Kool-Aid® Cherry Soda
Frozen Cherries

The Ravenator

1.5 oz. lemon or lemon lime Vodka
.5 oz. blue Curacao
2 oz. cranberry juice
Splash of grenadine
SodaStream Lemon Lime Soda

Shake first 3 ingredients in shaker. Pour over ice.

Top with SodaStream Lemon Lime Soda and a splash of Grenadine.

The San Fran Fizz

1 oz. cherry vodka
1 splash grenadine syrup
3 oz. SodaStream Energy Drink

Pour vodka and SodaStream Energy into a small glass.

For a layered effect – add grenadine slowly so it sinks to the bottom without mixing

Or toast to the Big Easy with a Ramos Gin Fizz (SodaStream-style, of course).

Ramos Gin Fizz

2. oz. Gin
1 oz. Heavy cream
1 Egg white
½ oz. Lime juice
½ oz. Lemon juice
2 tsp. Superfine sugar
3-5 dashes Orange flower water
Shaken with ice, topped with soda from SodaStream

When the going gets tough, you’ll need a Hail Mary.

The Hail Mary

1 ½ oz. Vodka
2 ½ oz. Tomato juice
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. Lime juice
½ tsp. Tabasco sauce

And make sure to have a celebratory drink of something bubbly WHEN your team wins.

The Lanesborough

⅔ oz. Grand Marnier
⅔ oz. Cranberry juice
⅔ oz. Passion fruit juice
2 oz. Champagne

However you celebrate the Big Game, I hope you have a super bubbly day. Let the good times fizz!

  1. a few of these “combinations” sound pretty good. I’m thinking the Ravenator could be a BIG hit, though the San Fran Fizz with frozen cherries added (not in the original recipe) could be good too. Too bad I don’t have a Soda Stream to try these with. One day maybe ….
