Love-ly Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s DayMs. Fizz | Thursday, February 6th, 2014 |
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and my heart is already bubbling over with love–as my head is filling up with adorable ideas for how to celebrate. (SWOON!) Gone are those days of exchanging handmade and store-bought paper cards in grade school, but that doesn’t mean there still aren’t plenty of ways to get a little mushy over the holiday–whether you have a significant fizzer or you’re fizzing solo.
Here are some Ms. Fizz (and cupid) approved ways to feel the love on V-Day.
Create a heart photo installation.
If you’re anything like me, you have a bunch of photos saved on your computer, in your phone, or hanging out in your Instagram account. Print those masterpieces out and arrange them in a heart shape on a wall with double-stick tape. (Looks cute all year round too!)
Host a Secret Valentine.
This is a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with friends. Similar to Secret Santa, choose names, then pick a gift or plan a special “date” for your valentine.
Put your heart into the gift wrap.
Make a love jar.
If you’re feeling especially cheesy, consider creating a “love jar.” Fill a jar up with little slips of pink and red paper that list out various things you love about your valentine.
Whip up something chocolate.
Because what would Valentine’s Day be without chocolate? (Answer: Not as delicious, that’s what.) For an added bonus, make your treats just a tad “healthy.”
Warm, Flourless Chocolate Cake
6 oz. 70% dark chocolate
1 Tbsp. orange zest
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 overripe bananas
¼ cup roasted sweet potato
¼ cup honey
1 whole egg
3 egg whites
Find the recipe here.
Mix up a love potion.
The best way to say “I love you” is with something fizzy.
Raspberry Chocolate Kiss
3 chocolate cookies, finely crushed
¼ cup vodka
Fill a shallow dish with simple syrup to cover the bottom. Place crushed cookies into another shallow dish. Turn over a martini glass and coat in the simple syrup, then immediately place it in the crushed cookies to coat the rim of the glass. Crush raspberries in a cocktail shaker with a muddler. Add simple syrup and muddle again. Add vodka and Ocean Spray® Cranberry Raspberry sparkling juice drink. Fill with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain and serve.
